Program Description

Selected interns will learn about the field of indoor furniture through both residential and professional applications. Weekly meetings will provide the forum for education as well as presentation of ideas. You will assist our VP of Global Sourcing, VP of Market Development, and Design Director with the product development process from concept to production to presentation, while building portfolios with help from education on topics ranging from Macro Design Trends, the Business of Furniture Retailers, the Buying Practices of Mass General Merchandisers, Ready To Assemble Furniture 101, and a Sustainability Course from LPK’s Green Accredited Professional. The candidate will be asked to utilize different techniques, materials and styles to create design ideas. Successful portfolios will be presented to customers and winning ideas will be rewarded.


LPK Design Internship Qualifications:

•    Currently Studying or have a Bachelors degree in Industrial Design, Fine Arts, or Graphic Design
•    Strong mechanical and analytical skills
•    Strong time management and team work skills
•    Excellent communication skills
•    Creative problem solver
•    Understanding of manufacturing processes and materials
•    Ability to visualize and communicate designs in 2D & 3D
•    Ability to design within and develop a design language
•    Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
•    An understanding of 3D modeling, Solidworks, and Hypershot desired
•    A good eye for graphic design
•    Knowledge of sustainability desired
